FTP Login Problem
On my new machine, I can't login to FTP as my user. I can log in as any other user (except root of course), but not mine. I tried logging out to see if that made a difference, and I've also tried two different daemons (pure-ftpd and BSD ftpd) to no avail.
I know my password is right, but it tells me it's wrong. I've also tried logging in from various machines, same problem no matter what. I even tried changing my password to something simple (like catdog or something) and still, nothing. Any ideas? I'm running SuSE 8.2. |
In some brands of ftp, there is a file /etc/ftpusers (or something similar) in which you list the names of the users that are NOT allowed to log in via ftp. Check to see if you have that file and if so make sure your username isn't there.

FTP Login Problem
HI,
I believe your problem is the configuration of your firewall, under Yast2, security&users- firewall there is a block checked by default to protect from internel network, uncheck this and you should be able to acess it. Hope this helps, Dave S. |

mrmdls: That's not the problem, since I can login as any other user from the same machine that I can't login as me from. Anyway, I'm reinstalling right now for a different reason, so all should be good when I start back up. |
