FTP issue using Kppp

Hello all,

I have an issue with the following setup:

I login to a customer network using KPPP. The network I log in to is a 10.101.23.x network that is setup between me and the RAS box. Nevertheless I must be able to telnet to a 10.33.3.12 box inside that network.

As I am connected to my own Intranet (a 40.40.40.X network as an example) my default GW is a 40.40.40.1 network.

When I connect to the remote network only a 10.101.23.x routing entry is created in my routing table (I see this using netstat -r). Therefore to solve this I manually add a route using route add -net 10.33.3.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev ppp0. This add OK.

With that solution I can telnet no problem to the box. The problem comes when I try to FTP to it, either using gFTP or manual FTP from a console.

I FTP OK, send my user/pwd, but when trying to list files in a directory, or performing an mget * command I get a no route to host error. I can't establish a data connection to it.

I tried disabling the firewall to no avail. Also, when I boot into Windows and performing this same actions I can FTP with no problems so I know it's not an issue of the remote box.

What can be worng?

Thanks.

Finally I could get it solved

It was due to the fact that the remote server I was FTPing to did not support PASV mode transfers. Once I got rid of this it worked fine. shucks!
