ftp failing to connect through firewall (lukemftp)
I am trying to connect to an HPUX box running on a customer site. To get there I have to navigate a checkpoint firewall.
On windows or on older versions of Linux (RH7.3), an example WORKING ftp session is,
ftp ipaddress
Connected to ipaddress (ipaddress).
220 Check Point FireWall-1 Secure FTP server running on fwname
Name (ipaddress:me): support
331 password: you can use password@FW-1-password
Password: (IENTERPASSWORDHERE)
200 password: you can use 'quote FW-1-password' or Account command ('ACCT')
ftp> quote IENTERPASSWORDHEREAGAIN
230-User support authenticated by FireWall-1 authentication
230-Connected to server. Logging in...
230-220 servername.domainname FTP server (Version 1.1.214.5 Tue Nov 16 09:39:15 GMT 1999) ready.
230-331 Password required for support.
230 230 User support logged in.
ftp>
However, on later versions of Linux (Suse10/Suse10.1) using lukemftp client, I get,
ftp ipaddress
Connected to ipaddress.
220 Check Point FireWall-1 Secure FTP server running on fwname
Name (ipaddress:me): support
331 password: you can use password@FW-1-password
Password:
200 password: you can use 'quote FW-1-password' or Account command ('ACCT')
ftp: No control connection for command.
ftp>
At that point, I can't do anything. Does anyone know a way around this. It appears to be a problem with the ftp client. Are there any other command line clients I can use?
Regards,
Ian.
