FTP Between VMware and Linux Host


Hi there ...

I have a Redhat Linux 7.3 OS ... I installed VMware. Now I would like to have FTP facility between VMware and my host machine, so tat I can transfer files to and fro ...

I have set up the FTP server in my Linux host .. and the FTP Daemon is also working ... but how do I set up the connection between my Linux (Host) and VMware (runs Windows XP) ???????

u need to setup your Guest OS's networking to be 'bridged'. That way, u can have a virtual connection to your Linux host.

test it with 'ping' first before doing an ftp and trying to make it workr.

Thanks Born..

I can ping.. But wat I am trying to get help for is setting up a FTP between VMware (Windows XP, Guest) and Linux (Host).. I mean.. There is some manuals which asy I can activate the samba server n stuff.. But am not into comps and I dun understand it much.. haev used FTP before, but I dun know how to set it up .. U know wat I mean.. I am working on linux machine.. and I installed VMware.. now how do I transfer files from my Linux host and Vmware guest ?? This is my basic need... ... Luking forward to ur valuable help !!!

Look for "ftpd" running at the Linux box, issue an "ftp" command at the console and then "open localhost"... if get the answer then the ftp server is up and running. Then try to open the ftp connection from within the virtual machine, using the appropriate IP address.
