Unhappy Free UNIX/Linux/OS X Networking Utility???

I was asked to do a simple lookup today (try to find the IP address of a client with a known Mac address) and was all buggered up trying to get the right command to do so. So my boss asked me if there were any UNIX (or Mac OS X) networking utilities to do things like this, so that we don't need a 900 page manual on command line stuff.

There is a good one for windows that may go under wine:
http://www.angryziber.com/ipscan/

The CLI is probably easier though:
arp -a | grep your:mac:here
