firewall, webserver and registered domain problem, i think
 

This is kinda weird, and I didn't know how to explain it in the subject. But the situation is this. I have registered a domain and set it up to point to my firewall. I have port 80 fowarded to my linux box which is running apache and other services. Now this is where it gets weird, and where i need your help.

From any machine behind my firewall (using BBIagent http://www.bbiagent.net) I have to access the webserver using my IP address. I cannot access the server using the registred domain name. But others outside of my lan can access the domain and so can i when I am at work. I can connect to my webserver using both the ip adress and the registerd domain name.

Is there something ineed to do in my resolv.conf or something for my machines behind the firewall to be able to connect to the webserver using my domain name?

Can you ping www.xxx from inside the LAN?

If you get no ip resolved from the ping, you are looking at a DNS problem.

Yes I can Ping my www.xxx from inside the lan ... no lost packets and no time outs ... but if i open a browser and put the url in it ... i get nothing.

Maybe,
your httpd.conf says to bind to an interface.
But dns should still give you the external number unless you are proxying somehow...
Can you give me some more lan structure details please, ficticious numbers ok.

I've had a close look at the bbiagent software, and unless you have root access to the system, it seems quite a difficult firewall to modify.
I can't even work out whether there is a proxy running in it or not.
They inply yes, because they ask you to disable proxy settings for web admin access.
Hmmmm???
I think your prob lies there, in the firewall proxy rules...

I had to add an entry under BBIAgent under there hosts sections to point 192.168.2.5 to my domain
