Firestarter firewall and connection sharing

I am trying to set up a computer to act as a firewall/gateway on my network, and am using the Firestarter program to do this. Everything appears to be set up correctly, and I followed the instructions on their website completely, and I get an error message when I try to start the firewall. It says that eth0 (my internal NIC) isn't ready, and to make sure it's active. I'm not sure why it isn't working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To find out if your interfaces is active or UP, and also how many of them do you have in active state you need to type on root console:
ifconfig

If you want to know how many interfaces do exist at all and can be activated, type:
ifconfig -a

All my NICs are up. They all display correctly in ifconfig. This is the problem. Everything appears to be set up correctly, but it isn't working.

I have no idea what Firestarter is doing there, but you can try to remove part of its script and find out what cause error.
