Firefox can not connect internet (OpenSuse)

Dear People,

I am new with Linux System.

I have just installed OpenSuse in a brand new desktop. I have got no problem at the installation process. Somehow, I still could not get my firefox to browse internet.

I set the network configuration by applying the IP Address, Subnetmask, Standard Gateway etc. I can ping, both internal network and external network. So, I assume, there is no problem exist in relay and accept data.

Still, I can not browse using firefox. I could, indeed, open the website google.com, by typing http://74.125.43.147, but can not proceed if I typed www.google.com.

if config =
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:24:1D:C438
inet addr:192.168.1.57 Bcast:192.168.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
Interrupt:30 Base address:0x8000

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:23 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:23 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:1500 (1.4 Kb) TX bytes:1500 (1.4 kb)

Thank you for your help ...

That says it all. Since you can connect via IP address, but not hostname, that means that you don't have your name servers set up correctly. If you're getting your address info from DHCP, then you're probably going to have problems with other hosts, when their leases expire. If you've set up a static IP, you'll have to enter the name server info manually, either through yast, or by editing /etc/resolv.conf

Shouldn't be slower than any other system on that same network, unless there's a different issue.
