If you are just chatting then its not possible to get the IP. B'coz the server of yahoo comes between you and your friend's PC.
Either invited him/her for voice chat or share the web cam.
run #netstat -a (look for some other options too)
and you will get his/her IP. This time your PC are interecting directly without the intervention of the server.
