I want to find the MAC addresses of new members ...Presently...I am trying to keep track by sniffing packets initially using Sockets API...storing the addresses in a linked list and whenever a new address is found I store it in another linked list. Is there any built in function or better procedure to find the MAC addresses??
Thanks in advance.....
What is wrong with your approach? I think there is only method of getting MACs, by sniffing, or by inspecting broadcasted packets (but not everyone send it). Anyway there is a simple tool "arpwatch", which trace used MACs and IPs. Maybe look at it source.
You are not getting the users MAC address, those datapackets your packet sniffer is sniffing aren't the users MAC address's imho if you are talking about a website.
If you are talking about some new members surfing your wireless internet you could, please elaborate.
