Hi, I've been trying hard to connect my linux and osx box for file sharing but I don't seem to have luck in it.
What is the problem is that I can see the my osx host name on my desktop and when i click on it there is an error message says that content cannot be display.
Anybody can help me here?
I have smb, netatalk and howl installed on my suse 10.3 and restarted.
Whenever I've done Samba-based sharing with Mac OS X, I let the Linux machine be the server, and the OS X machine be the client; I've never had any problems working things this way.
The ease of doing it this way, is that smb.conf is [reasonably] easy to configure and apply changes to, whereasa on the OS X box, it's a bit tricky and time-consuming.
Are you using the Mac OS X box as the server (host)?
OS X works with other protocols as well. You can easily send files either way, as long as the other computer is running ssh. I've never had much luck with smb on linux and osx.
