file search utility for LAN in redhat


hi im newbie....was using sharescan for searching files in our local LAN(the size is too big). i searched lot a substitute for that utility. now im getting frustrated ..
plz help me out...

are you trying to search for files on a LAN that has both windows machines and *NIX machines? If it is only nix machines mount the remote drives and you can then just use the "find" command. thats the way I find files on nix. there may be better ways but this does work.

ooops
no man lan isWINDOWS LAN, in windows i use sharescan to find shared files, but in linux i doint know what and how to use for searching files. here its important that i dont the IPs or Comp Names, so its not possible to mount individual comps.

You haven't said which distribution you are using.

Someone who uses that same distribution and
samba would be more likely to answer your request
for detailed assistance if you did.

A couple of quick clicks from the first URL I gave you takes me to

which may prove helpful to you.

A search on this fine resource for "samba" returns 406 responses.
Trimming that by checking only within the last month returns 249.

What have you tried so far???? aaargh!
