Fast torrents downloads behind router on Gentoo ?


Is it possible to get torrents to download faster than this really slow... I'm getting NAT-error, i did get it when i had windows too, but i could download ALOT faster and could upload too... And i can't change the router couse i'm not home... It's working on windows but not linux ? Tell me i'm wrong plz...

Bittorrent functions in the same manner regardless of platform. You'll need to port forward the bt ports over.

Do i have to change in the router ? How do i forward the ports ? I found that IPTables isn't in kernel neither... I have to recompile ?

Then someone tricked me that i shouldn't use P2P if i didn't used the linux as router, that it was impossible to get it to work behind a router.... Well can someone help me ?

What you need to do is forward tcp ports 6881-6999 from your router to the IP address of your PC.

When you say router i'm guessing that you mean a hardware DSL ethernet router. In which case it should have some kind of browser based config tool that you can use to set up the port forwarding.

You should not need to worry about IPTables (why you don't have it already in your kernel is another question for another time) on your PC.
