fast connection slow intenret
 
hello every one...
i have just installed Fedora Core 2
and i'd like to know why my internet is slow
i've got a 1.5 mb connection
i went to see resolv.conf
and actually i dont know what to put in it... i am connected throught the internet by a router and his ip is: 192.168.1.1
what shell i put:

localdomain
192.168.1.1


or something else?

/etc/resolv.conf is for the DNS resolving. Your host will ask servers listed in that file to resolve domain names to IP addresses.
If you get your IP address via a DHCP server then it will be set accordingly.
If you have hardwired IP address, as in your case, behind the router, and the router does not offer DHCP serving then you should set to the name server given by your ISP.
If your router can do DNS forward and DHCP serve, you should set so and use a dhcpclient daemon on the client side.

how can i know if i get my IP adress via a DHCP server?
what does it mean to have a hardwired IP adress?

in /etc/resolv.conf. You may also use your ISP's nameserver.
