this is probably a fairly basic request, but I can't seem to get
it to work so I thought I'd ask for help...
I've recently moved my Linux box running FC4 to a different
country. Previously I had a fixed IP address and was running it
on an ethernet LAN. In the new setup, I'd want to run DHCP. I
went into Desktop -> System Settings -> Network and hit the
Edit mode for my eth0 device. This then allowed me to select
"Automatically obtain IP addres with dhcp" I also checked
"Automatically obtaine DNS information from provider".
When I bring the card up, it allocates me an IP address ok, but
when I try to ssh anyhere I get the message
Temporary failure in name resolution
I checked that my /etc/resolv.conf file and it has
three nameserver addresses. These are the same three
addresses that my MAC generates when it is plugged into
the same ethernet port. So I am at a bit of a loss how
to proceed. Is there anything else obvious that I should be checking
or doing?

Are you able to ping external hostnames - e.g. google.com? If not, then try pinging your primary and secondary nameservers. Maybe you're not communicating with them.
If so (more likely), then is it possible this message is coming from sshd on the server you're trying to ssh to? OpenSSH will try to do a reverse lookup when 'UseDNS' is set to yes. This may prevent you from authenticating if that reverse lookup doesn't match.
I'm not able to ping google.com or any of my three nameservers
when I try this on my linux box.
When I switch
the connection by to my mac and do the same things, the ping
to the first nameserver works ok, however I do get a "Communication
prohibited by filter" message for the 2nd and 3rd name servers
to see if the correct default gateway is specified. If not, specify it.
If your default gateway looks fine, then does your gateway/router really have an active connection to the web? I would talk to the guy who maintains that. If he is you, then check that next.
