FA311 with SuSE 10.0

I can't get on the internet and I've been trying to figure this out for a few days in a row now researching and everything, but so far nothing and I'm getting really upset.
I work through the Gnome interface because I'm not familiar with the commands yet. I'm 4 days old in the linux world so don't take much for granted on my part.

The FA311 is supposed to be a compatible card and as such is recognised and shown by the system and the module natsemi exists already in the distribution and is installed.
I've tried to activate the thing many times and following various instructions but I end up nowhere. Either I can't follow the instructions, or I get error messages or it simply keeps not working.

Is there a way to get that thing running?

Never mind. I figured out the chip has likely changed from v1 to v2. So natsemi no longer fits. The new one is rtl...

I'm trying to compile the driver provided on the cd but modifying the file.c to work with the changes applied in kernel 2.6 (in comparison with 2.4) regarding the building of kernel modules ain't as obvious a thing to do.
