ethernet interface fails (Fedora)

[I'm a noob]

Ok, I just installed Fedora (version 2, i think - it came with this big red sam's book)

Anyways, I installed it on a relatively old computer - a Dell Dimension XPS D300 - and while I'm booting up, everything's fine - until it attempts to load up the ethernet interface:

Code:
updating /etc/fstab ok
setting network parameters ok
bringing up loopback interface ok
bringing up interface eth0 failed

what happened?

btw, I took apart my computer, and I found that I had a 3Com 3c-905 network card...

also, before I posted this, I browsed through the forums, and I found someone with basically the same problem. They solved it by disabling Plug and Play OS in their BIOS - well, I checked my BIOS, and it was already off..

Thanks in Advance

Well, first off, was this card detected at install?

Secondly, try looking in /lib/kernel/%VERSION%/modules/drivers/net for 3c905.o.gz.

Extract that, and then insmod it, and do an ifconfig eth0 - and see what happens

I had same problem, but it was due ot the fact that I had disconnected ethernet cable.

After booting, I just activated the NIC card and It's wokring fine now

Sorry about that - posted when I was at work on a Windows box, and I thought I had the right path......:S

Try /lib/modules/%VERSION%/kernel/drivers/net/3c509.o.gz
