ethernet hawking pci with fedora core 3

I just installed a 32bi pci ethernet card (Hawking Gigabit adapter).
I'm trying to learn linux. I am now dual boot: xp and fedora core 3.
Couldn't get the dial up working on linux to I bought a
linksys router and westell modem

Installed the new pci card and fc3 recognizes the new card
but hangs looking for a driver (i guess).
If I bypass the part were fedora asks what to do about the new hardware,
it works fine (I can get online ok) but, I tried to install applications, I get an error referring back to missing [internet/driver].

Is there a recommended ethernet card that is known compatible fc3? (i found a hit about someone hving problems with hawking support so I'm thinking I should just byte the bullet and get an different card.)

Thanks
