ethernet hardware ID

hello
My school's IT guys need the hardware address of my ethernet card, however I have the PC hooked up to a Linksys hub and from there to several PCs. I dont know how many PCs I'm allowed to have, but I'm sure I'm over the limit.
My question: does the Linksys hub have its own hardware ID? or do have to give out one from the PCs?

I hub is a dumb device so it doesn't have an ID. So either live with only one computer having access or possibly find a router and use its MAC.

I think if it's a simple hub then it won't have a MAC address, but each computer will see every packet that travels. Whenever a packet is sent by any computer or device on the hub, every other computer or device "sees" the packet. The only thing that keeps everything straight is MAC addresses - computers ignore packets unless the MAC address matches their own. The alternative is to purchase what is called a smart hub or even a router. Or maybe give the MAC address of the card on one computer, then use it's second nic to send to the hub, then connect the other comps to the hub.

If it were a smart hub, or a router, you could go to the web configuration panel and get the MAC address. For instance, on my D-Link router it's under Status.
