Question Ethernet Card Help

Ok, I'm running Obi Wan College Linux 2.5 on an eMachines T2825 model PC. Everything is looking great and I have loved my Linux experimenting since the pre-installed XP crashed.
However, I have been unable to configure the network settings. Netconfig works just fine. I put Swbell for the hostname and Swbell.net for the domain name. Our home network uses DHCP to configure the netmask and gateways and such, so as far as I know that should not be the problem.
ifconfig tells me that I have no network card installed. I think that means it just doesn't have a driver for the card I have.
Upon opening the box I found that I have an integrated STech PCI card with the numbers "P29-101-11K9" on it. With a little bit of research I think I found the model I have. It says that it has a driver for Linux, but I don't understand why Linux doesn't see that I have it installed.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

(The board won't let my put in a URL cos I haven't made 5 posts yet, but I found my card at interactile.com and searching for STech)

What is the card and model? And what module/driver does it tell you that it works with? Have you tried inserting the module at all with 'modprobe <name-of-module>' ?

More details please?
