eth0: too many iterations (6) in nv_nic_irq

im getting the following in my dmesg on one of my debian machines running 2.6.15

eth0: link up
eth0: link down
eth0: link up
eth0: link down
eth0: link up
eth0: link down
eth0: link up
eth0: link down
eth0: link up
eth0: link down
eth0: link up
eth0: too many iterations (6) in nv_nic_irq.
eth0: too many iterations (6) in nv_nic_irq.

The problems I am experiancing is users accessing a mysql database on that server have to wait sometimes indefinately to bring up the database.

any ideas on whats causeing this and how to fix it?
