eth0: no such device
my Ethernet cannot be detected by gentoo 2004.2. I have set all of the kernel up for a VIA Rhine type card, installed it and done what i need to, still that didn't work. Whenever i go to call upon the Ethernet card, it says that there is no such device.
But heres the thing, i am on Windows XP Home Edition now and it is working fine, and on boot when Gentoo is loading, it has some SIOCADDRT, or something like that, warning saying that eth0 is not accessible. Can anybody please tell me whats going on, it is really getting me frustrated. |
Could you post the relevent output from dmesg, also the output from
/sbin/lspci -v and /sbin/lsmod would be helpful. Is this an onboard card, or a pci card? good luck. |
Did the liveCD detect your NIC when you installed?
Did you compile support for you NIC into the kernel? |

Good to know that you got it all sorted out mikkime23. But i think we'll all appreciate it if you told us what you actually did to resolve the problem.
It'll help the learning process! |
