Red face

I am fairly new to Linux but have installed Caldera OpenLinux 2.2.5 several time (for experience). I am now trying to get the ethernet card to connect with the network. During startup there are messages about device not known
eg.
'modprobe: can't locate module eth0'
'No such device'

I have looked at modprobe, depmode and insmod without success!

What are the simple steps to progress from here. The card is an Intel Ether Express PRO/10

Robert.

Sounds to me you might need a different driver! Its not detecting your nic or doesn't know what it is. My suggestion would to be first to find out if your card is in any of the hardware compatibility lists, in which I did not find your card listed anywhere, Intel has all the drivers for most OS other than Linux or Unix. You might also want to go thru the howto's to see any other steps you might want to take, at: http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Ethernet-HOWTO.html
This might point you in the right direction.

Hope this helps in anyway.
