eth0 configuration reset after reboot

Hi,

I'm having an issue with Mandrake 10.1 Official and my ethernet configuration. I have 2 NICs installed, which are connected to a router using DHCP (eth0) and to another computer via a crossover cable (eth1). Everything was fine until I messed with my /etc/hosts file and then my eth0 connection went down after rebooting.

After reconfiguration eth0 using the HardDrake GUI utility, I am back up and running just fine. The problem now is that when I reboot my eth0 fails to initialize unless I re-run HardDrake again on that device. What setting is HardDrake not modifying so that these settings will stick through a reboot??

Help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

J

Mandrake are similar to Redhat .
I also had that problem when I have 2 NICs in my Fedora 3 . This is because the bug of the NetworkManager Service .
If your Mandrake also contains this services , please try to stop it . And the problem will be solved .
