eth0:9 incorrect IPs ,and eth0 not IPs

I was trying use anonymous proxy (i found at some page as workable) at XPs.It did fine before i reboot. Then i couldn't connect anymore.
And next day i just finished installing NVIDIA drivers at same box.(because eth0 wasn't found)

Then I start MDK 9.1 and eth0 is there,but ifconfig shows :

eth0 ....without IPS.....

eth0:9 ...with someone elses IPs (not the one i was using as anonymous user)

and Loopback

I'm behind Cabel modem > router > ethernet switch > 2 boxes.

The one of the boxes working fine (i'm on now MDK 9.1),but other one can't get any IPs.

My question is how can i set it up to get it fixed?

I'm newbie who had some problems with attacks, someone stole one of my emails, and more....so i decided (recommended from friend) that i should use anonymous proxy that anyone can't see my real IP.

Sorry I'm

thanx for reading and sorry if you read same at security forum,i made mistake

believe it or not,it works now.....I'll never get at someone elses IP......as user zaraza posted...i didn't know what problems i can have after i use someone IP (which i found at some page as anonymous proxy i can use) glad it's back and my MDK 9.1 is running for first time at new box......any suggestions what should i do before i get on-line...i ifdown eth0 in case .....i'll install Guarddog then i'll do some changes in MDK control center.
Anyway connecting on someone elses IP is not a good idea.Another thing i learned. What will be next?haha

First and foremost what are you trying to do exactly? Use an ip address and then browse the web via a proxy server? or are you trying to configure two linux box routers and having a problem with one of them getting an ip address?

As for stealing emails? have you not considered changing your password? Also if its so secret that someone else were to read it then it shouldn't be in an email to begin with.

If you have a security issue with your computer purhaps you need to ensure your firewall is working and look at running a CHROOTkit program on your machine so you don't have any root kits installed.

Firewall Jay is my recomend firewall script for locking down a linux box.

thanx for reply

Well.First of all, sorry for my english.

My problem was, that i tried to brows web through anonymous proxy i found at some web page.It worked one day before i rebooted. Then i had that problem.I didn't know my IP so i couldn't changed it back as it was.And it was showing me some wierd IPs (everything done at one box on XPs,before i finished MDK 9.1 as 3th boot-NVIDIA chipset driver).
Yes i wanted to others see me as someone else, because so many problems i had before, and still have because my friend (nice chick) can't get email from me.I know who might do that, but don't know how stop him! Bit him up on the street?Won't be in jail .)

And it is not anything between my 2 boxes.I don't have it networked.Using eth switch.(we have only 2 port router)
Other box i was on the internet was strengly slow, when i changed IPs to anonymous proxys.

But it disappeared today.I noticed faster internet on old box, then i tried other box ( i had problems on) and IPs were there from ISP.So i finally installed firewall Guarddog on first fresh MDK 9.1 install.

I never heard about firewall you're using.

It is not probably GUI.I need GUI because I'm newbie. It's easier for me.

Anyway thanx for reading ,and do u know how to connect that anybody will not see my real IP when i'll brows the web?

Thanks a lot,

WannaLearnLinux super

I think you should forget about trying to hide your IP address and concentrate more on securing your machine properly, there's no real reason to try and hide your IP address unless you are on some sort of undercover operation, doing something suspicious or are plain paranoid

If you use an anonymous proxy the proxy people (who you will have no idea who they are) will have your IP and for all you know they could end up doing something malicious with it or to you.

If someone is intercepting/has access to your email report it to your ISP and they should take it very seriously and will probably be able to find out who is doing it.

Mymandrake - what happens/does it say when you try and send an email?

thanx Looking_Lost

you are right.I need secure my box first.I study the Chrootkit,we'll see.it is good,as i read about that and people recomending it a lot.

And about that anonymous (someone elses) proxys.yes the one i had his IP for sure knows mine now.
And he was probably doing something, because my internet was pretty slow at the time i had problem with those IPs at other box.

all i need is

But for sure I'll use this old box only on-line before i learn Chrootkit.

Is this the firewall you are using better then Guarddog and Firestarter?I used both and like more Guarddog ,for now.

See you around. Gotta go,Chrootkit is waiting for me .)
