esound over ssh / putty?

okay, finally received enough help to get my feeble mind to be able to stream VNC over ssh (connecting my work and home boxes) . Now my question is how do I get esound to work? i found a howto on this site for linux box to linux box, will this setup work the same for ssh using putty on a windows box to connect to xmms streaming esound on my home lnux box? do I just need to forward port 16001?

No go. I tried that last year with no luck. ssh can do X11 forwarding but not sound. What I ended up doing was writing my own script using Fluid. Then I found out about Streamsicle and everything was cool. Besides horrible documentation, Streamsicle is easy to setup once you find the configuration file (do a find in the streamsicle directory for *.conf).

can it do streaming audio

Can it do streaming audio? i need to redirect a live365 stream from live365 to my work box over ssh, can streamsicle do that?

Unfortunately no. Streamsicle is designed to stream local files (only mp3) to the world. Can you not connect to the live365 stream at work?

nope, mp3 firewall :(

I wonder if there's a way to have live365 stream with out the mp3 or pls or whatever file extension. Also, is the firewall blocking mp3s by blocking a certain port? If so, can you change the port which live365 streams out of?

that would be interesting to pursue

That would be one method to pursue, but I have no idea where to start. Any ideas?
