Angry Error in remote Login

Hii All,

I am using rhel 5.3 and i am in a LAN. when I try to connect to a remote machine through ssh which is also of rhel 5.3 the following messages I get,

# ssh root@<IP Addrss of the remote machine>
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
@ WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED! @
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY!
Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)!
It is also possible that the RSA host key has just been changed.
The fingerprint for the RSA key sent by the remote host is
b7:94:1c:08:8a:48:73:3e:80:34:2d:c8:f4:9f:1a:be.
Please contact your system administrator.
Add correct host key in /home/<user name>/.ssh/known_hosts to get rid of this message.
Offending key in /home/<user name>/.ssh/known_hosts:3
RSA host key for <ip of the remote host> has changed and you have requested strict checking.
Host key verification failed.

Note: the contents inside <> are being changed i.e <ip address> has the remote host ip address and the <user name> has the remote hosts user name.

But initially like few days back a was able to connect to this machine through ssh.

Now I am not getting the issue, could anyone please help me in finding the issues?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you, or a system admin, reinstalled ssh or the RSA key was changed then this is a normal message. Remove the ip entry from your authorized_keys file and all will be well again.

BTW: You shouldn't use root to ssh/scp.

Hope this helps.

Hey,

Thanks for the help .. Now the issue has been resolved. After your suggestion I realized that just few days back I have reinstalled the so that's how the key got changed and now I changed the known_hosts file and it's working f9.

Thanks again.
