enable multihoming on linux enterprise

Hi, how do i enable multi-homing on linux enterprise? I have eth0 configured to ip 10.10.10.35 and want my eth1 to have ip of 130.20.30.40.

I tried editing /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1. I change my ip address to the desired one (130.20.30.40). Do i need to change the rest of the fields, like broadcast, gateway, subnet. etc?

I am really a newbie at linux and detailed steps onhow to do this will be appreciated. Thanks

Hey buddy, I'd suggest you first get some basics from this site:

www.linuxhomenetworking.com

Also, this website is heavily loaded with advertising material so you'll need to scroll down to get to the meat it all! It might even be easier to search for "Chapter 3" (without the quotes of course) as that chapter deals with networking.

Once you understand it a little more, you'll be able to ask direct questions.

Cheers,
kb.

hi, i read up on the website u suggested, but the only relevant stuff i found there is ip-aliasing, that is setting up eth0:1, eth0:2, ec, without different ips. what i need to know is how to set up ip addresses of different subnets to a different ethernet interface, like eth0 and eth1. Thanks
