effective utilisation of dual internet connections.
I have 2 connections, a 5mbps cable connection w/ dynamic ip (static not available) and a dsl connection w/ 5 static ip's.
The dsl is for telecomputing, I maintaina server for my boss, it needs static ip, and my boss pays for the connection, he granted me permission to also use it, and the remaining static ip's.
The cable is fo rme becuase the dsl is only 1.5mbps and bogged down w/ his stuff.
Now I have 2 linux servers, each will need a static ip. However I want them to utilise both connections, the dsl for the static ip's is a must, but if they could also use the cable, preferably using both connections in a somewhat balanced load, it would be great.
Each server has 2 network cards, one on the static ip network, the other on the cable modem's router (dynamic w/ private network to distribute it)
I was thinking of giving each a static ip, and setting the rout for the static subnet tot hat network card and the static ip router, then setting the default gateway to the cable-modems router. this I figure insures the computers can be reached via static, but anything they do goes out via the cable.
I am wondering if there is more/better I can do to utilise this dual connection.
any ideas?
