editing Kernel IP Routing Table

Hey,

I have been looking through the forums and using Google Search, but i can't find an answer.

I need to sort out my Kernel IP Routing Table. When I start my secondary Ethernet card, the table gets warped.

I need to know how to do three things:

-remove IPs from the table
-add IPs to the table
-configure the gateway.

I have tried commands like:

route add inet_route add eth0 172.24.15.220 gw 172.24.15.221

but I get the error saying:

inet_route: Unknown host

I have tried the help files, but it doesnt give explainations for what each option does. I really need a walkthrough in how to do each of the above.

Many thanks in return
Hamish
