dynamic ip and mail problem

my isp's mail server has been blacklisted by a few domains which prevents me from sending mail to certain people. please dont suggest i talk to my isp, ive been trying that for weeks. to combat this problem i set up my own mailserver, which worked great and allowed me to send email to the people i wanted to, then the following happened

2003-08-01 12:14:25 19iXrd-000626-Hq <= from_person@my_isp_domain H=(squall) [192.168.0.2] P=smtp S=12809 id=000c01c35821$77c35180$0200a8c0@squall
2003-08-01 12:14:26 19iXrd-000626-Hq ** destination_person@aol.com <destination_person@aol.com> R=dnslookup T=remote_smtp: SMTP error from remote mailer after initial connection: host mailin-02.mx.aol.com [64.12.138.89]: 554- (RTR:BB) The IP address you are using to connect to AOL is a dynamic\n554- (residential) IP address. AOL will not accept future e-mail transactions\n554- from this IP address until your ISP removes this IP address from its list\n554- of dynamic (residential) IP addresses. For additional information,\n554 please visit http://postmaster.info.aol.com.

i cant send to aol addresses because they wont accept email from dynamic addresses, talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. anyway my current solution is to tell my mail server to forward all things destined for aol to my isp's mail server and send everything else directly which works.

my question> i have found another company www.nkdsl.co.uk which offer a static ip for £28 a month which is slightly cheaper than what i currently pay for my dynamic ip, but i dont want to change unless having the static ip will allow me to send to aol. so will it? does anyone else run a mail server on a dynamic ip and have similar problems/solutions?

The thing about that is, aol is setting up a way to stomp locals from spamming aol addresses...

The only thing you can possibly do is relay emails through a trusted ip.

Static or not, it won't work.

They just resolve your hostname, and it shows as a customer of a peticular isp.. and you get filtered out with the rest of the spam.

You don't seem to fully understand, you cannot bypass your originating ip address.

The filter just looks at the hostname, and if it doesn't pass their filter test, then you get that message back.

so are you saying that it is not possible for ANY isp to provide me with an ip/hostname that i can connect to aol's mail server with? what about small businesses that run there own mail servers how do they do it?

Those small businesses lease T lines, or frame relay, or business dsl/cable..

There's a lot you get with it. Including different reversed lookups.

I'm sure its against your TOS to attempt to invalidate your ISP's reverse lookup on your ip.
