Question Dynamic DNS server setup ?

Hey everybody - I have what I hope will be a quick question...

How do I discover the addresses of the DNS servers I've been assigned to use after I've made a dial up connection with kppp?

In winblows you can do an ipconfig /all and it will tell you which DNS servers you're using - but ifconfig (at least, not run vanilla) doesn't tell me the same..

Any ideas anyone ?

'cat /etc/resolv.conf' should show you your dns servers. If you are using dhcpcd then all the information obtained from the dhcp server is placed in /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-<interface>.info
I'm not sure about other dhcp clients but I'm sure they have something similar.

Thanks for the reply - I'd actually got to that answer myself - I didn't realise that dynamically assigned DNS servers were added to /etc/resolv.conf temporarily while the link is up - I didn't think it would be that simple - but it was!

Oh well - you live and learn...
