Dumb X terminal; how to set up?

I'm pretty new to this whole linux thing, so I thought I'd throw a question out here.
I'm thinking of taking an older laptop, and using it as a dumb terminal.
Well an X Terminal. I want the visual interface.

Can someone point me to some tutorials on how to set up both the server and client to accomodate this?

I know this must have been done before, so ANY answers are welcome.

if u have a look at the computerbanks project they have been running some Thin Client network for a library on a low budget.Its worth checking it out.

You can always get one of the old dedicated X hardware terms that DEC made who-knows-how-long-ago
