DSL does not work on suse 9.1 professional

I have a Win XP & Suse 9.1 Linux dual boot system, and a Westtel 4 port DSL modem which will either run ethernet or USB, I have it set running ethernet. When I am in XP it works great, but can not get it to work in Suse 9.1. Thought that I followed all the instructions in manual but something must be missing as it won't connect in Linux. I am using a dummy address of 10.11.0.5 and submask of 255.255.255.0, and showing my provider to be Centurytel.net. It says it recognizes my network card and that it is configured, but somehow I am getting lost configuring the DSL? Any help appricated.

I assume that in Windows, you are also using the 10.11.0.5 address? If so, then you might want to check and make sure that you have the right defualt gateway set in Linux. You can set it using "route add default gw 192.168.0.1", but put your gateway's address in place of 192.168.0.1. Also, check your resolv.conf file, which is located in /etc. Mine just says "nameserver 192.168.1.1", and 192.168.1.1 is the address of my router. You could also enter the IP addresses of your ISP's nameservers. You can usually get them from the setup in the router/DSL modem.
