DSL: Connectivity Issues
I'm having a very strange problem keeping a consistent internet Connection. Here is a picture of my network:

My problem is that my internet connection is dropped all the time for no apparent reason. If I keep the DHCP server on my DSL router, however, my internet connection is pretty stable. Does anyone know what kind of messaging needs to happen between Earthlink and I in order to keep my connection up and running? What can I do to start diagnostics? I don't even know where to start with this problem... |
Some intermittent DSL problems I had in the recent past were related to having a phone connected to the line that wasn't on a filter. Actually, it was connected to a filter I had from a previous provider. I used the filter that came with the modem and cables and that seemed to resolve the issue.
Another problem I experienced was the phone line being connected to an alarm system. No filter there. Anything like that on your system? |
