that sounds like a throtle issue.(some proxies limit the speed you access data from certain programs) you can't change that

when you page download is quick are large files from websites quick to download?

i dont use kget but type
kget --help
there would have to be a way to change the port from whatever is is to something else.
port 80 is known not to be slow web browsers use that.
so change it to 80

Is there Any programs to overcome this throttle issue? When u take the speed of webpage loading it is too much?It is starting from 4.5Kb/s and slowly converges to stalled condition.

[root@localhost ~]# kget --help
Usage: kget [Qt-options] [KDE-options] [options] [URL(s)]

An advanced download manager for KDE

Generic options:
--help Show help about options
--help-qt Show Qt specific options
--help-kde Show KDE specific options
--help-all Show all options
--author Show author information
-v, --version Show version information
--license Show license information
-- End of options

Options:
--showDropTarget Start KGet with drop target

Arguments:
URL(s) URL(s) to download
[root@localhost ~]#

Actually there is no option to change the port number. It is associated with konqueror.
