Download speed

I was testing my download over a lot of websites and it gives me allways
the some result , using the same connection and modem.
Downloading with suse 10,3 or mandriva 2008 and mandriva 2008.1 download speed about 170 KB/sec.
Downloading with Fedora 8 or Fedora 9 download speed about 60 Kb/sec
The difference is about 100 KB/sec
Can anybody give some advice how to change the download speed of Fedora ,
in that way that give the same result as suse and mandriva ?
Any help will be most welcome

all the best

Use ethtool

Use ethtool to make sure you've got a full duplex line & that it's running at full speed. It's probably set at half duplex; check the man page for ethtool.
