dovecot + postfix + fedora core 3

i can't seam to be my pop3 mail server to sendmail, i'm running postfix, dovecot and fedor core 3.

this is what happens when i try and connect to my mail server via outlook

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'fedora.school.cathedral.qld.edu.au', Server: 'fedora.school.cathedral.qld.edu.au', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

here is the output of the following command

[root@fedora /]# netstat -l | grep smtp
tcp 0 0 fedora.school.cathedra:smtp *:* LISTEN
unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 41833 private/smtp
unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 41885 private/bsmtp

ps: my dns name is fedora.school.cathedral.qld.edu.au (for some reason the last of it has been cut off)

i've tryed to use my ipaddress to connect to it, but the same result.
