I wonder whether Linux has a Domain Controller server as Windows ??? Do some research, I got some idea about using SAMBA as a Domain Controller. However, i am not really understand what it could be???
Samba can handle centralized domain user authentication, logon and logoff scripts, but lacks group policy management. The next version of samba (I want to say q2 of 07), is supposed to have better group policy support and increased domain capabilities.
You can configure your samba to act as a PDC & then further you can also make domain policies for the whole userland(all PDC members). Though as earlier said... do not get confused it with group policies.. with these policies you can restrict desktop abuse & manage your desktops in a little better & effective way.
I have done this, but as earlier said.. you cannot look for group policies & these policies will be applied on all of your PDC members.
I have question, if I configure a Samba as PDC, will Windows users loggon to their Windows boxes via Samba's user account? And after they logged in, they could access to all shared resource on Linux box without prompt type user/pass?
