domain &hosting??

hi
i got a registered domain..a simple site is uploaded on the web server of the registring company.also got a cable net 24/7
i want to configure my box as a web server and also want to configure the DNS .
i want to hoste my site on my own box and want to configuer the dns as if any one enter the url of my domain...it should open my site which is currently hosted on my own box using Apache

confusion is how to configure the dns for my domain and when any one enter url of my domain will it open the existing web page hosted at the company or will it open the web page hosted at my box using apache?????????

simply add an "A-Record" pointing to your static IP and name it something like
"www.myfunny.dom IN A 123.123.123.123"
or
"*.myfunny.dom IN A 123.123.123.123"
(if you want wildcards like blah.myfunny.dom, foo.myfunny.dom, dummy.myfunny.dom, etc. too)

You remember when you registered the domain, you needed to fill out Primary DNS and secondary DNS information. That is the IP of machine for DNS servers in your own and that is the way how people can find your web server. Of course, you need to configure DNS services on that machines with domain zone files for www, mail or sub-domain.
