Does raw socket block packets from transferring to upper level ?

I want to write a raw socket program to chase packet address. Just wondering if that would block those packets from transferring to upper level ? Or it would just look at it without real touch ?

probably I would just create a socket and use 'recvfrom()' to get those packets.

Any idea is well appreciated,
Thanks.

You can use recvfrom() to receive packets, the packets are all, including everything. Not only packets you send out through raw socket.

Thanks. What I trying to ask was whether this recvfrom function would hook all packets?

If I have a TCP/IP socket on upper level as well as a raw socket on bottom level, would recvfrom() block those packets from transferring to TCP/IP socket ?

The recvfrom() of raw socket shouldn't block any packets from transferring to upper level.
