Do you think my dns from my isp is static ( public ip)
Hello, guys how are you doing? i have two question but before that let me give you an information what i have in detail.
my 1st questionis : When i restat my Router, in the WAN connection type; an internet IP Address, ISP gate way address are changing but my primary DNS is not i mean it's not changing ( constant) and the Secondary DNS is 0.0.0.0 it means i don't have 2ndary DNS from my ISP. my 2nd question is : when I see my ADSL STATUS, the stream type which is Actual data reate; the UP STREAM = 276(kbps) and the DOWNSTREAM = 1139(kbps). SO, here is my question 1. do you think that my IP Address is STATIC ( public IP Address)? how could i know that whether i have STATIC or Dynamic address from my ISP? 2. Do you think that my internet speed is 1mbps because of the Down stream rate is 1139kbps? if the answer is yes, why my upstream rate is 276kbps only why it's not the same as the UPSTREAM rate? thank you guys |
Hi danyee22,
if you have a static IP, you must have configured it anywhere on your system. In most cases you have a dynamic IP which is provided by your ISP or your router via the so called DHCP-Protokoll. The DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protokoll) provides your computer with the complete IP-configuration, i.e. IP-adress, gateway, subnetmask, DNS-server(s). The point is that you may get different IP-adresses, the other settings will not differ independent if you have static or dynamic IP-adress. You may search in the internet for a list of your ISPs DNS-servers and configure this settings for your system statically. I'd strongly recommend you to read a basic tutorial about networking. Hello,
Most likely if you have a regular ADSL connection at a normal price then you'll have a dynamic IP address. Almost any provider I've ever heard about charges for static IP's. Your upload speed is lower than your download speed because you are on ADSL. ADSL means Asynchronous Data Subscriber Line where the upload and download speeds differ. If you want the same upload as download you'll have to get a SDSL line (Synchronous Data Subscriber Line) and pay a lot more per month. Kind regards, Eric |

DNS is always static, Quote:
upstream is mostly lower then downstream on a regular abo. Also downstream wil influence upstream and visa versa, unless you use SDSL Again, if you pay for it, you can get more upstream. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name_system http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asymmet...ubscriber_line http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDSL |
Thank you very much guys and i really appreciate

You're welcome.
