dnsmasq: Getting warning that interface doesn't exist

Hi,

This is my dnsmasq.conf file:

server=8.8.8.8
server=/localnet/192.168.0.1
interface=wlan0
dhcp-range=wlan0,192.168.0.50,192.168.0.150,255.255.255.0,12h
dhcp-authoritative

But when I run dnsmasq with option --no-daemon I get the error:

dnsmasq: warning: interface wlan0 does not currently exist

Even though ifconfig command shows me my device:

wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

I am using openSuse 12.1. What is wrong with this setup, please help.

Thanks

All of the counters are zero. Are you authenticated?

Its from a fresh boot that's why zero.

I am trying to use dnsmasq along with hostapd. I tried both with NetworkManager enabled and disabled. The client is able to connect to the access point but doesn't get the IP address which is because dnsmasq doesn't find my wireless card.
