dnsmasq cache

Hi,

How to know the records present in the dnsmasq cache? Whether it is doing its job at all?

Cheers

You can run dnsmasq in a debug mode for more information, and also check the -q option: http://www.thekelleys.org.uk/dnsmasq...smasq-man.html

Hi,

I have checked that link. It is well documented. And -q option will log the entries that dnsmasq is answering.
But probably there is no way to check the complete cache of dnsmasq?

Best Regards

This is a rather old thread, but, ....

dnsmasq can be persuaded to output some stats, even if not running in debug mode.
Code:
sudo killall -s USR1 dnsmasq
tail /var/log/syslog -n 10 | grep cache
for example
Quote:
Apr 7 20:16:39 hector dnsmasq[13164]: started, version 2.72 cachesize 1000
Apr 7 20:25:45 hector dnsmasq[13164]: cache size 1000, 0/202 cache insertions re-used unexpired cache entries.
Note:- I increased the default cache size from 150 to 1000.
