DNS problems with DHCP (Debian)

I've just set up my DSL connection with a Netgear router.

I've run 'dpkg-reconfigure etherconf' to configure a DHCP client.

My /etc/network/interfaces seems to be correct (iface eth0 inet dhcp).

My /etc/resolv.conf looks like this:

Code:
search
nameserver 192.168.0.1
But I linux can't resolve domain names properly.

If I change resolv.conf to include the DNS addresses given by the ISP it works fine.

But my router has a DNS server running which works fine under WIN98.

Any ideas?

Interesting. I didn't know that some cable/dsl routers have dns built in. I would use the ISP DNS servers if I were you.

Well the router configuration asks me for DNS address. And for windows 98 I didn't had to configure these. The specifications for the Netgear DG834 says that one of its functions is DNS.
