DNS issues

Hi,

I have a problem that is puzzling me, hopefully you can help

I have a DNS servers that is hosting multiple domains with no problems, with the exception of one, every query using dig or nslookup to that domain returns a NXDOMAIN error, BUT if I execute the query specifying explicitly the server, I got no errors.

So for example, this fails:

dig www.mydomain.com

But this works:

dig www.mydomain.com @mydnsserver.com

The domain is defined the same way the other domains in BIND, the whois information is ok, etc.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help!

What's the difference between the DNS server you have set on your local machine and the one you are querying explicitly?

The difference is that I'm using another DNS server to make the request, the problem is that it behaves like the DNS server that is authoritative for the domain is not allowing external DNS queries, but all the other domains hosted on that server are working ok from anywhere.

You can use:
Code:
dig +trace mydomain.com
to see the authoritative nameservers for the domain in question
Or check your domain dns settings here
