DNS issues

HI,

I configured a Web and ftp server on my linux Fedora server at home and registered a domain name lets say sometning.co.il.

I recieved a mail from the registration party saying:

If you provided a DNS Server, the activation is expected to take place
within 48 hours. If you have not provided such a server yet, you will
need to use the "Modify" procedure to inform us of your DNS Server(s).
Only after this modification request has been accepted and processed,
will the activation take place.

what is the meaning of this? do I need to build a dns server now? and if yes what are the record I need to insert there ? A records?

please help !!!

thanks very much !!!

In order to use a domain name, you need to have authorative name servers that answer DNS queries. In most cases, the place you choose to host your site at will handle DNS. If you'd like to do it yourself, you'll need to setup at least two authorative name servers, setup a zone file and then make the registry modification. You could also look into a place like http://www.zoneedit.com/ to handle the DNS part for you.
