DNS-Bind9 problems on RHEL5
I have a test system that I am using to explore IPv6. It consists of two machines, both connected to our network, and a "private" network I made with a router connecting the two machines (each with an added NIC).
I am trying to test IPv6, but the first test case is to run the configuration in IPv4.
I adjust the resolv.conf to point to the different nameservers.
My problems are:
When I restart the network, my two links respond with:
Bringing up interface eth0: RTNETLINK answers: File exists
[ OK ]
Bringing up interface eth1: RTNETLINK answers: File exists
[ OK ]
After I restart named, I get:
Output of:/etc/init.d/named status
number of zones: 12
debug level: 0
xfers running: 0
xfers deferred: 0
soa queries in progress: 0
query logging is OFF
recursive clients: 0/1000
tcp clients: 0/100
server is up and running
named (pid 19744) is running...
===================================================
Output of:/usr/bin/dig DNS1.IPv6Net.gov AAAA
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
; <<>> DiG 9.3.4-P1 <<>> 0.0.0.0 IPv6Net.gov AAAA
;; global options: printcmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
This failure to connect seems to be consistent no matter how I try to jumble up the configuration files.
I am lost and would appreciate any ideas.
