i have problem with linux dns (bind-9.3.4-9.P1.el5), i have updated a CNAME on live server, but the changes are note reflecting on local linux dns server, whereas local windows is display correct records.
even though i have restarted named, and nscd -i hosts, rndc flush.
i have verified this through several other dns servers.
What is the local linux dns server? A slave to the "live" dns server?
If that's the case make sure that your live server sends notifies to the slaves and there is not a firewall problem in between.
Check /etc/resolv.conf to see if you have the live server before any other dns.
Also disable nscd if it's running on local dns, since you don't need it.
its simple dns, not a a slave for that domain. as i make changes to live dns, it reflects to Windows DNS (when i query to windows dns it have a correct answer, also not a slave). where as linux dns stored in some where.
now i stopped it nscd but still have same IP address of record, instead of updated CNAME.
i have verified this from opendns.com server. and getting correct response. when i do same from local dns server using nslookup and setting server to local linux server it have old bad correct.
