Greetings everyone......

I am currently trying to get DNS running on my 5 node Mandrake LAN.
After reading some literature concerning DNS, it seems as though the named.local file must be configured on each host within my internal network. This is only a guess due to the fact that the book never actually says if this is the case.
From what I can gather, the named.local simply allows for forward and reverse address resolution internal to the host itself?

Any insight would be appreciated.
Also, is it better to simply use NIS instead? The book does say that NIS is easire to manage and configure.

Thanks for any advice :)
